Assisi hosts equestrian pilgrimage and art exhibition for Saint Francis anniversary
In commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi, an equestrian pilgrimage is underway from San Marino to Assisi. Starting September 6 and scheduled to conclude on September 12, five Sammarinese riders—Pierpaolo Donati, Claudia Bollini, Floriano Andreini, Marco Guidi, and Paolo Berardi—are traveling the route on horseback. The journey passes through locations including Mercatello sul Metauro, Apecchio, Pietralunga, Gubbio, and Valfabbrica, emphasizing a slow and sustainable connection with nature.
Upon arrival at the Basilica in Assisi, new philatelic and numismatic issues dedicated to the Saint, produced by Poste San Marino, will be presented to the Basilica friars. This initiative is supported by the San Marino State Secretariat for Tourism.
Additionally, an art exhibition titled ‘Lo squarcio nell’ombrello’ featuring the watercolors of Regine Schmidt-Morsbach will be held at Palazzo Vallemani in Assisi from September 12 to 20. The exhibition, hosted by the Arnaldo Fortini Cultural Society, explores themes of human vulnerability and poetic observation.
