Associação ESTAR secures funding for emergency housing in Beja

Associação ESTAR, a social solidarity institution based in Beja, has received approval for ‘Projeto VIVER’, an initiative designed to provide emergency housing and support for homeless individuals in the district. The project was approved on October 21 by the Alentejo 2030 Regional Program Steering Committee.

The total eligible investment for the project is 610,804.60 euros. This includes 519,183.90 euros provided by the European Social Fund Plus, covering 85% of the costs, with the remaining 91,620.70 euros provided through national counterparts. The project is scheduled to run for 36 months, from November 2026 to December 2029.

To address the shortage of emergency accommodation in the region, the project will establish the REDE (Residência de Emergência e Desenvolvimento), a structure offering temporary housing with technical and social support. Additionally, multidisciplinary case management teams will be formed to provide continuous follow-up through individualized intervention plans. The initiative aims to support the autonomy of those in need and aligns with the National Strategy for the Integration of People in Homeless Situations (ENIPSSA).
