The Associação Mato-grossense dos Municípios (AMM) has officially approved a restructuring of its internal regulations through Resolution No. 010/2026. The new statute establishes three-year mandates for both the Executive Board and the Fiscal Council, allowing for only one consecutive reelection.

To facilitate the transition to this new model, the current leadership's term has been extended until January 2027, when the next administration will be inaugurated. The election for new directors is scheduled to take place by December 2026. Due to the timing of the municipal elections in October, the voting body will be composed exclusively of mayors who are elected or re-elected during that cycle.

The updated regulations also introduce stricter requirements for candidates. Those running for President must provide updated asset declarations and criminal and civil certificates from both Federal and State courts. Furthermore, voting must be conducted in person, and proxy voting is prohibited. Each compliant, associated municipality is entitled to a single vote.
