Association files hate crime complaint against YouTuber Iñaki Angulo
The Association for Transparency and Democracy in Sport has filed a formal complaint with the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Madrid against YouTuber Iñaki Angulo. The complaint follows homophobic remarks made by Angulo, who has over 600,000 subscribers, directed at Real Betis footballer Héctor Bellerín.
In a video posted after a match against Real Madrid, Angulo reportedly used derogatory terms such as “maricón encubierto” (undercover faggot) and mocked Bellerín’s gender expression, specifically mentioning that the player paints his nails and reads books written by women. The association argues these statements constitute a potential hate crime under Article 510 of the Spanish Penal Code, which addresses conduct intended to humiliate or discredit individuals based on sexual orientation or identity.
The organization has requested that the Prosecutor's Office open an investigation, secure the digital evidence, and block access to the content while legal proceedings are underway.
