Astronomers study cosmic strings and mysterious black hole objects
Astronomers are investigating theoretical cosmic strings and mysterious celestial objects to better understand the early universe. Cosmic strings are hypothesized, extremely long and thin structures that may have formed during phase transitions in the early universe following the Big Bang. These topological defects would possess immense energy concentrations and significant gravitational influence, potentially detectable through gravitational lensing or gravitational waves.
Additionally, using the James Webb Space Telescope, researchers have identified a mysterious object named MoM-BH-1*. Located as it was approximately 660 million years after the Big Bang, the object appears as a small red dot. Analysis suggests it is not a standard star, but likely a massive black hole—potentially 100,000 times the mass of the Sun—enveloped in a dense cloud of hydrogen. This compact gas envelope causes the object to emit energy equivalent to 100 billion Suns, making it appear star-like despite being powered by a central black hole.
