Astronomy outreach events launch in León and the Canary Islands
The Alto Bernesga Biosphere Reserve organized a series of outdoor stargazing sessions called “Un Paseo por el Cielo” for July and August 2024. The events, held in Santa Lucía, Rodiezmo, Villamanín and La Pola de Gordón, offered public sky observations at 22:00 for €3 per person, with a mandatory registration and recommendations for warm clothing. A workshop on 26 July prepared participants for the total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, providing certified glasses for a €5 fee.
In the Canary Islands, the municipality of Breña Baja and Ad Astra La Palma hosted “Notas celestes – Viaje musical por el universo” on 27 June at the Antiguas Salinas de Los Cancajos. Astronomer Elena Nordio presented celestial objects while pianist Blanca Quevedo performed music inspired by space. The evening concluded with a brief telescope viewing, weather permitting.
