Asus and Lenovo prepare to launch Googlebook laptops

Leaked render images suggest that Asus and Lenovo are preparing to launch new 'Googlebook' laptops, potentially at the upcoming IFA trade show next month. While it remains unclear if Googlebooks are intended to replace or supplement the existing Chromebook line, these new devices are expected to feature a premium design compared to current Chromebook standards.

The devices are rumored to run a custom Android-based operating system, previously referred to as Aluminum OS. This system is described as being "designed for Gemini Intelligence," aiming to transition from a traditional operating system to an "intelligence system." This setup would likely provide full integration with the Android app ecosystem, the Google Play Store, and deep connectivity with Android smartphones and Chrome browser features.

Design leaks for the Asus model highlight the use of an Ultra-Ceramic Light Alloy, which reportedly makes the device 34% lighter and 13% stronger than previous iterations. A distinctive feature across the lineup is expected to be a "glowbar," a functional and aesthetic light element similar to the rumored Pixel Glow LEDs. Other manufacturers such as Acer, Dell, and HP are also noted as potential partners in the Googlebook ecosystem.
