Google launches Googlebook premium laptop series

Overview

Google has officially launched its ‘Googlebooks’ premium laptop series, a new hardware category developed in partnership with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Designed to merge Android and ChromeOS capabilities through a shared architecture, the devices are built around the Gemini AI intelligence system and feature deep integration with Android phones for syncing passwords, messages, and settings. Continuity features such as ‘Continue On’ and ‘Cast My Apps’ are central to the ecosystem.

New details reveal the devices utilize a new operating system known as Googlebook OS, or ‘Aluminium OS’. To support AI-driven workloads, all models include a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of over 45 TOPS. The series features high-end hardware, including Intel Core Ultra (Panther Lake) and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors. Specifically, Dell and HP models utilize the Snapdragon X Elite platforms, while Acer, Asus, and Lenovo models feature Intel Core Ultra processors. Additionally, MediaTek has announced the Dimensity CX C10 Max chip, a 3nm process processor providing up to 55 TOPS, intended for upcoming high-end, ultra-portable Googlebook models.

As part of the rollout, Acer has debuted the Googlebook 14, described as the industry’s first convertible laptop designed for the Googlebook OS. This model features a 14-inch 3K OLED touch display, an aluminum-magnesium chassis, and Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors supporting up to 50 TOPS. It includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a 71 Wh battery rated for 16 hours of autonomy.

Pre-orders have commenced with a starting price of $899, with some models reaching up to $1,299. Retail availability is scheduled to begin on October 4, 2026, in the United States, followed by releases in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, France, and Germany on October 5.
