ASUS launches ROG Rapture GT-BN98 WiFi 8 gaming router
ASUS has launched the ROG Rapture GT-BN98, a quad-band gaming router utilizing the emerging WiFi 8 (IEEE 802.11bn) standard. Available in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the device is priced at approximately 960.95 euros.
The router offers a theoretical total bandwidth of up to 25,000 Mbit/s distributed across four bands: 1,376 Mbit/s on the 2.4 GHz band, 5,764 Mbit/s on each of the two 5 GHz bands, and 11,529 Mbit/s on the 6 GHz band. Hardware specifications include a 2.6 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and eight built-in antennas.
Rather than focusing solely on peak speeds, the WiFi 8 technology aims to improve connection stability and throughput at medium to long distances, even with many active devices. Connectivity features include two 10G ports, four 2.5G ports, and a standard Gigabit port. The router also incorporates Adaptive Quality of Experience (Adaptive QoE) for dynamic bandwidth management and WiFi Insight for interference analysis.
