ASUS rolls out Wi-Fi 8 ROG Rapture and ZenWiFi systems
Overview
ASUS has expanded its deployment of the emerging Wi-Fi 8 (IEEE 802.11bn) standard through the launch of the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 gaming router and the ZenWiFi BN12 mesh system.
The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 is a quad-band router designed to prioritize ‘Ultra-High Reliability’ (UHR) to provide stable connections in multi-device environments. It offers a theoretical aggregate bandwidth of up to 25,000 Mbps, distributed across the 6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 2.4 GHz bands. Hardware specifications include a 2.6 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and eight antennas, alongside two 10G ports and four 2.5G ports. The device features ‘Adaptive Quality of Experience’ (Adaptive QoE) for real-time bandwidth management, ‘WiFi Insight’ for interference analysis, and ‘GTNet’ technology to route data through low-latency paths. The router has seen availability in markets including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China, and Malaysia, with a scheduled arrival in Spain in early November.
Complementing the gaming router, the ZenWiFi BN12 is a BN19000 tri-band mesh system. It provides a theoretical aggregate speed of up to 19 Gb/s, utilizing 4x4 configurations across the 6 GHz (11.53 Gb/s), 5 GHz (5.76 Gb/s), and 2.4 GHz (1.37 Gb/s) bands. The system includes 10GbE ports and integrates with the AiMesh ecosystem, with a two-node kit rated to cover up to 650 m². Like the GT-BN98, the BN12 utilizes ‘Adaptive QoE’ to improve connection stability and coordination between access points.
