Aswan Food Safety Authority Seizes 161 kg Expired Products in Broad Inspection

The Aswan branch of Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority inspected 176 food‑related establishments, including markets and butcher shops, across the governorate. Inspectors seized 161 kg of expired and unsafe food items—such as meat, bakery goods, and dairy products—and destroyed 70 L of used cooking oil deemed unfit for consumption.

Legal actions followed: two violation reports were filed, and a memorandum called for the closure of 15 establishments identified as posing an immediate health risk. The campaign is part of the national plan to tighten control over food distribution and protect public health.
