Aswan officials investigate water leakage and house cracks in Al-Basiliya

A technical and engineering committee in Aswan, Egypt, has investigated water leakage and structural cracks affecting homes in Nag' al-Sayeh, Al-Basiliya. The investigation was launched by Governor Amr Lashin following resident complaints.

Field inspections, including exploratory wells and soil sampling, revealed minor water accumulation in the Al-Zama Mahammadia area. The committee identified that the lack of a formal sewage network, the use of non-compliant septic tanks, and the specific clay-based nature of the soil contributed to the issue. The local water and sanitation company reported no current leaks in the main street pipelines.

As immediate measures, the committee recommended inspecting and replacing non-compliant internal water and sewage connections and performing regular maintenance on septic tanks. The proposed permanent solution is the expedited completion of the sewage network for Al-Basiliya, including Nag' al-Sayeh, to resolve the issue fundamentally.
