Atalanta extends Giorgio Scalvini contract amid Premier League interest

Atalanta has officially announced a contract extension for defender Giorgio Scalvini. The 22-year-old Italian international has committed his future to the Serie A club, with one report stating the new agreement runs until 2031.

The renewal follows a summer of intense transfer speculation linking the center-back to Premier League clubs, most notably Newcastle United. While reports suggested a potential deal worth approximately €45 million was discussed earlier in the summer, no transfer materialized.

Securing Scalvini to a long-term deal provides Atalanta with significantly more leverage in future negotiations should interest from English clubs like Chelsea or Newcastle persist. Scalvini, who joined Atalanta’s academy in 2015, has made over 140 senior appearances for the club despite recovering from knee and shoulder injuries in recent seasons.
