The individual responsible for the gesture, identified as Fabio Acquaroli, shared a video of the incident to express his disappointment regarding the player's departure.

De Roon, who held the record for most appearances for Atalanta with 444 matches, had spent nearly a decade with the club and was considered a symbol of the team.
