Athens International Airport hits record 4 million monthly passengers

Athens International Airport recorded a historic milestone in August, with monthly passenger traffic exceeding 4 million for the first time. Preliminary statistics show a total of 4.03 million passengers, representing a 3.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Both domestic and international passenger movements saw growth, rising 2.4% and 4.3% respectively over 2025 levels. For the first eight months of 2026, total passenger traffic reached 23.71 million, surpassing 2025 figures by 4.4%.

Flight activity also increased, with 198,571 total flights recorded between January and August 2026, a 3.9% rise from the previous year. This includes a 4.8% increase in domestic flights and a 3.2% increase in international flights.
