Athens motorcycle collision leaves three dead
A fatal motorcycle collision occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, September 1, at the intersection of Alexandras Avenue and Vraila Street in Athens. The accident involved two motorcycles colliding head-on, resulting in the deaths of three individuals: a 27-year-old woman driving one motorcycle with a female passenger, and a 51-year-old man operating the second vehicle.
Security footage captured the moment of the high-impact collision, showing the vehicles being thrown into the air before coming to rest against a parked car. Emergency services transported the victims to Erythros Stavros Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Authorities are currently conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Police are reviewing video footage from nearby traffic lights to establish whether one of the drivers ran a red light. Preliminary reports from the Hellenic Police indicate that none of the three individuals involved were wearing protective helmets at the time of the accident.
