Athens police seize seven women in illegal brothels during anti‑trafficking raid

On the night of 2 July 2026, the Sub‑Directorate for Combatting Trafficking and Goods carried out a targeted operation in Athens and the Kallithea district. Police entered three premises that had previously been sealed by municipal authorities but were operating as illegal brothels.

Seven women were arrested and charged, pending trial, with violations of the municipal sealing orders and breaches of foreign‑nationality legislation. Authorities also confiscated €1,535 in cash. Representatives from the NGO “Our Rescue”, which assists trafficking victims, were present to provide immediate support. The police have announced that the sealed locations will be re‑sealed as part of follow‑up measures.
