Athens Stock Exchange climbs 0.88% on July 1, led by Motor Oil gains

On July 1, 2026 the Athens Stock Exchange (ATHEX) General Index closed at 2,481.33 points, up 0.88% from the previous session. Earlier in the morning the index was recorded at 2,473.40, up 0.24%, before gaining further momentum.

The rally was driven by strong performance from high‑capitalisation stocks, notably Motor Oil (+4.12%), GEK TERNA (+3.09%), National Bank of Greece (+1.92%) and Metlen (+1.91%). Declining stocks included OTE (‑3.35%), ELPE (‑2.44%), Viohalco (‑2.40%) and Titan (‑1.92%). A total of 57 shares advanced, 53 fell and 15 remained unchanged. Trading volume reached 41,732,370 shares with a turnover of €336.83 million. Alpha Bank and Eurobank were the most active in terms of share count, while GEK TERNA and National Bank recorded the highest transaction values.
