Athens Stock Exchange nears 2,600 points as banks drive gains

The ATHEX General Index climbed above the 2,600‑point mark, posting a new 17‑year high. Bank stocks led the rally, with the banking index up over 2 % and the four system‑wide banks accounting for roughly half of the day’s turnover. Trading volume exceeded €22 million, and the market followed a broader European uptrend after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a pause in new military actions against Iran.

Energy prices fell, with Brent crude dropping below $82 a barrel, supporting the bullish sentiment. Domestic companies such as DEI, Metlen, Aktor, Coca‑Cola HBC, HelleniQ Energy and others are slated to release half‑year results in the coming days, adding further focus to the market’s direction.
