Athens Stock Exchange outperforms global markets in four-year bull run

The Athens Stock Exchange has significantly outperformed major global markets over the last four years. As of October 12, 2026, the Greek market recorded gains of 217%, surpassing the S&P 500's 118% increase and the Nasdaq's 161% rise.

Other major indices also saw growth during this period, including the Dow Jones at 77%, Germany's Dax-30 at 107%, the UK's Ftse-100 at 56%, and France's Cac-40 at 35%. This four-year bull market, which began following the S&P 500 hitting its low point on October 12, 2022, has been largely driven by the explosive growth of artificial intelligence, large technology companies, and the resilience of the US economy.

Analysts note that while the current S&P 500 growth is near the historical average for bull markets, it remains below previous major cycles such as 2009-2020 and 1987-2000. UBS analysts suggest that artificial intelligence momentum could continue to support corporate earnings, forecasting a 25% increase for S&P 500 companies this year and 14% in 2027.
