Athens traffic faces heavy congestion on major road axes

Major traffic congestion and significant delays are affecting several key road axes across the Athens metropolitan area. The Kifisos Avenue is experiencing heavy congestion in both directions, particularly in sections ranging from Peristeri toward Nea Ionia and from the level of Athens Avenue to Filadelfia.

On the Attiki Odos, commuters are facing substantial delays. In the direction of the airport, travel times from Fylis to Kifisia have been reported to exceed 30 to 45 minutes. Delays are also noted on the exit for Lamia and in the direction of Elefsina. Other heavily impacted routes include Kifisias Avenue, Mesogeion Avenue, and Athens Avenue, with notable bottlenecks near Haidari and Skaramangas.

In central Athens, traffic is heavy around Syntagma, Panepistimio, and Stadiou. Additionally, congestion is affecting the roads surrounding the Port of Piraeus and various connections to the city center, including Alexandras Avenue and Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.
