Maritime activity at the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Lavrio has seen a notable shift. On Monday, August 17, more than 90,000 passengers moved through these ports, with arrivals (48,790) beginning to outnumber departures (43,764). However, a subsequent wave of late-summer departures emerged; on Saturday, August 22, approximately 27,000 passengers were scheduled to depart, with Piraeus accounting for roughly 16,000 of those travelers. Total departures for the three-day period from Friday to Sunday were estimated to exceed 80,000.

Road networks have faced similar pressures. During the peak return period, over 58,000 vehicles entered Attica within a 12-hour window, causing heavy congestion on the Athens-Corinth National Road. To manage this, authorities implemented increased policing and a temporary ban on trucks weighing over 3.5 tons entering the region until late evening.

By early September, heavy traffic congestion returned to the Athens metropolitan area as residents settled back from summer holidays. Significant delays have been reported on major arterial roads, including Kifissos Avenue, Kifissias Avenue, and Attiki Odos. Specific bottlenecks have been noted near the Sepolia area due to accidents, as well as near the Metamorfosi junction on the Athens-Lamia National Road and various central Athens thoroughfares.
