Athletes celebrate achievements at Santo Domingo 2026 Games

Athletes and officials celebrated significant achievements at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games. The Dominican Republic's athletics discipline emerged as a top contributor to the national delegation, securing 23 medals, including 14 gold. The Dominican Athletics Association (FDAA) held a recognition event in La Vega to honor the athletes, coaches, and support staff involved in these results.

In equestrian sports, Venezuelan rider Luis Fernando Larrazábal secured three medals alongside his horse, Baroness. Larrazábal earned a gold medal in the speed event, a bronze in the individual competition, and a bronze in the team event. He noted that his long-standing partnership with Baroness provided the necessary confidence to compete successfully against 38 other pairs in the speed trial.
