Athletes qualify for World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest
Several Serbian athletes have secured spots for the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, scheduled to take place in Budapest from September 11 to 13, 2026. Luka Bošković, Angelina Topić, and Adriana Vilagoš are confirmed participants.
Luka Bošković joins the elite field in long jump following strong performances, including a personal best of 8.23 meters in Zagreb and a fifth-place finish at the European Championships in Birmingham. Angelina Topić will compete in high jump, and Adriana Vilagoš will participate in javelin throw.
Despite her high global ranking, Montenegrin high jumper Marija Vuković will not compete in the Budapest event. Although she currently holds the eighth position in the official World Athletics rankings with 1,267 points—placing her ahead of Jamaican athlete Lamar Distin—she is not among the eight athletes selected to compete in the championship.
Ivana Španović remains the first reserve for the event in the triple jump discipline, waiting to see if any competitors withdraw.
