Atibaia Strawberry Festival sees increased attendance amid rising confectionery demand
The 44th edition of the Flower and Strawberry Festival in Atibaia, São Paulo, has seen an increase in visitors due to an expanded gastronomic program. The event, organized by the Associação Hortolândia de Atibaia, promotes regional production and features diverse culinary offerings, including strawberry-themed items like ‘morango cravejado’ and Korean ice cream, alongside Japanese and Brazilian cuisine.
Simultaneously, strawberries are gaining prominence in the confectionery market in São Paulo. As the supply period increases between mid-September and December, according to CEAGESP, bakeries are reporting higher demand for strawberry-based sweets. Some gourmet confectionery chains report selling over 1,500 units of strawberry-themed treats per week, driven by the fruit's visual appeal and its ability to balance acidity with sweet ingredients like chocolate and cream.
