Atlanta Braves outline future pitching and roster plans

Following their postseason elimination by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos addressed the team's future roster and pitching plans.

A primary focus is 21-year-old right-hander Didier Fuentes, whom the club intends to give a legitimate opportunity to compete for a spot in the 2027 starting rotation. While the team may implement an innings limit for Fuentes to manage his workload, he is expected to join camp as a starter.

Anthopoulos also discussed the team's approach to free agency, noting that the Braves intend to speak with all impending free agents before the market opens. The organization is evaluating needs at shortstop, specifically considering the utility of Mauricio Dubon, who appeared in 153 games for the team this season. The club is weighing options to address the position, which may include re-signing Dubon or seeking additional platoon options.
