Reynaldo López placed on Braves injured list with shoulder inflammation

Atlanta Braves right-hander Reynaldo López has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. The move follows a difficult outing on Monday against the Chicago Cubs, where López allowed five runs and six hits in just three innings.

López, who has dealt with various injuries this season including left knee inflammation, has struggled since returning to the rotation on September 9. His ERA since returning stands at 12.91. Manager Walt Weiss noted that the pitcher will receive rest in hopes of recovering from the shoulder issue, though the immediate next steps remain uncertain.

To address the vacancy in the rotation, the Braves have recalled right-hander J. R. Ritchie from Triple-A Gwinnett. López's absence adds to a growing list of injured Braves pitchers, including Bryce Elder, Joe Jiménez, Spencer Schwellenbach, Spencer Strider, Robert Suarez, and Joey Wentz.
