Atlanta Falcons face quarterback uncertainty ahead of Panthers game

The Atlanta Falcons face uncertainty at the quarterback position heading into their Week 2 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Following a 20-13 season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Kevin Stefanski has remained non-committal regarding which player will lead the offense this Sunday.

Veteran Cooper Rush, who started in Week 1, expressed readiness to serve as a backup despite a difficult performance in the opener where he threw two interceptions. Rush, who played through back spasms during the first game, noted that he and Michael Penix Jr. shared first-team repetitions during Wednesday's practice.

Penix is currently working his way back from a partially torn left ACL, though he has not ruled out playing this weekend. The team's decision-making process is described by Stefanski as a day-to-day situation based on available information and player health.
