Atlanta Falcons face quarterback uncertainty at training camp

The Atlanta Falcons are navigating uncertainty in their quarterback room during training camp. While veteran Tua Tagovailoa is the favorite to start Week 1, he has dealt with new back tightness that limited him during the first seven practices. His durability remains a concern given his previous history of surgeries and concussions.

Meanwhile, first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. is working on his recovery from a torn ACL. Although he has not yet been cleared for 11-on-11 drills, offensive coaches have noted his positive response to increased under-center work and his improved footwork during 7-on-7 periods.

In other NFC news, Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales reported that running back Jonathon Brooks is appearing to return to his pre-injury form during practice. For the New Orleans Saints, defensive player Julian Blackmon expressed gratitude for his health following a labrum recovery, though he recently left practice with a knee injury. Additionally, Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan is expected to miss the remainder of camp due to an injury that may persist into the regular season.
