Atlas and Chivas draw 1-1 in Clásico Tapatío

Atlas and Chivas de Guadalajara played to a 1-1 draw in the Clásico Tapatío during Matchday 11 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 at Estadio Jalisco. The match, played under rainy conditions, was marked by high tension and significant individual performances.

Atlas took the lead in the 52nd minute when Kevin Zenón scored following a long pass that bypassed the Chivas defense. Chivas pressured for an equalizer and were awarded a penalty in the 76th minute after a VAR review of a foul by Édgar Zaldívar on Santiago Sandoval. However, Atlas goalkeeper Camilo Vargas saved the penalty attempt by Ángel Sepúlveda, marking his 21st penalty save in Liga MX.

Despite the miss, Sepúlveda secured the draw for Chivas by scoring in the 86th minute with a left-footed shot. The match also saw the expulsion of Chivas player Kevin Castañeda in stoppage time. With this result, Chivas remains in fourth place with 19 points, while Atlas sits in sixth place with 18 points.
