Atlânticoline expects Gilberto Mariano ferry repairs by week's end
The ferry Gilberto Mariano, which has been out of service since last Friday due to a ‘technical anomaly’, is expected to be repaired by the end of this week, according to the maritime transport company Atlânticoline.
Repair work is currently underway to reintegrate the vessel into the passenger and vehicle transport operations for the Central group of the Azores archipelago. Following the repairs, mandatory technical checks and safety procedures must be completed to ensure the ship meets all necessary safety conditions before resuming service.
Atlânticoline has acknowledged the impact on passengers and is adjusting operations by altering schedules and itineraries, as well as utilizing the ships Cruzeiro do Canal and Cruzeiro das Ilhas. While passenger-only trips are being maintained, the company noted that transporting vehicles has become particularly challenging due to high seasonal demand.
