Atlus announces Persona 4 Revival remake with new combat system

Atlus revealed the full remake Persona 4 Revival at the June 2025 Xbox Games Showcase. The project rebuilds the 2008 title with upgraded graphics, voice work, music and a reworked battle system. Director Kazuhisa Wada said the changes aim to make the game more accessible to modern players while preserving the series’ style.

New combat mechanics include “Send Flying,” which spreads status effects to multiple foes, the return of “Baton Pass” from Persona 5, “Prime Time,” which temporarily lowers all skill costs to zero, and a “Guard” move that lets Yu Narukami block and counter shadow attacks. While fans welcomed the announcements, some commentators warned that the abundance of resources and the ease‑focused features could make battles too simple, reducing the strategic depth that defined earlier entries.
