Persona 4 Revival – Development and franchise milestones

Overview

Atlus and SEGA are developing Persona 4 Revival, a full-scale remake of the 2008 RPG, scheduled for international release on 17 or 18 February 2027. The title will be available on PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. A release for Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to follow on 20 May 2027. On 19 September 2026, Sega announced the early release of the song ‘True Story -Revival-’, composed by Shoji Meguro and performed by the character Rise Kujikawa (voiced by Rie Kugimiya). An original soundtrack consisting of four CDs is set to release on the game's launch date, featuring rearranged versions of popular tracks from the original Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden with new vocals by Shiori Sasaki, alongside new songs written specifically for the Revival edition. Coinciding with the Persona series' 30th anniversary on 20 September 2026, Atlus released a special ‘Shadow Ver.’ video reimagining iconic protagonists with their dark counterparts. During these celebrations, a second Broadcast Episode provided further updates on Persona 4 Revival, highlighting character design improvements and expanded depth for characters including Ryotaro Dojima, Nanako Dojima, Tohru Adachi, and the new character Aika Nakamura. New gameplay details also introduced ‘Location Episodes,’ where players investigate the history of Inaba City through various characters to uncover memories and photos. The project aims to provide the ‘Royal treatment’ through a comprehensive overhaul, including re-recorded voice lines, modified story elements, and new systemic variety such as the ‘Prime Time’ gauge and Human Parameters system. Animation support is provided by studio MAPPA. In late September 2026, SEGA reported that the Persona franchise has surpassed 30 million units sold worldwide.
