Atlus producer Kazuhisa Wada advocates for Persona 1 and 2 remakes

Atlus producer Kazuhisa Wada has expressed strong personal interest in the possibility of remaking the first two entries of the Persona series, Persona 1 and Persona 2. In a recent interview, Wada stated, “At this point, I can't say for sure, but personally, I think it's something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it.” While no concrete plans or official announcements have been made, the producer noted that these early titles would require significant mechanical and structural overhauls to meet modern standards, as they differ greatly from the social link-focused formula introduced in Persona 3.

In the meantime, Atlus is focusing on Persona 4 Revival, which is scheduled for release on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The remake aims to modernize the original experience by reconstructing locations like Inaba into fully 3D environments, enhancing combat systems, and utilizing more cinematic 3D story sequences with animation support from MAPPA. The project will include nearly all content from Persona 4 Golden while introducing new social interaction types and updated dialogue. Recent promotional material has begun spotlighting key characters, such as Yukiko Amagi, to build anticipation for the title.
