Atmos Rewards updates international lap infant policy

Atmos Rewards, the loyalty program for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, has updated its policy regarding lap infants on international award bookings. Under the new rules, passengers redeeming points for long-haul international flights can add a lap infant (a child under two years old who does not require a separate seat) for only the cost of applicable government taxes and fees.

Previously, the program often required a fee equal to 10% of the adult revenue fare, which could result in significant costs for business class travel. The updated policy applies to award bookings made through Atmos Rewards on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and their various partner airlines, including British Airways, Japan Airlines, American Airlines, Icelandair, and Starlux.

This change positions Atmos Rewards as a highly competitive option for families, comparable to Air Canada Aeroplan’s policy, by eliminating carrier-imposed surcharges for infants on international award tickets.
