Atoms raises $1.7 billion to expand robotics and automation
Atoms, a robotics and industrial automation company co-founded by Travis Kalanick, has raised $1.7 billion in a funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz. Other participants include Uber, Bain Capital, and Fifth Wall. This significant investment, noted as one of the largest financings of 2026, will be used to accelerate development across the food, mining, and transport sectors.
In the food sector, the capital will support the expansion of ProKitchens, a network of commercial kitchens operating in several European cities, including Paris, Marseille, Lille, Lyon, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Lisbon, Warsaw, and Amsterdam. ProKitchens aims to reduce labor friction and capital burdens for food entrepreneurs by providing certified, ready-to-fit kitchen spaces on flexible contracts. Atoms also plans to invest in hardware automation and workflow management to improve operational efficiency for food and beverage brands.
Beyond food, the company is expanding its industrial footprint through Atoms Mining, which focuses on autonomous haulage and machine systems, and Atoms Transport.
