Atoms secures $1.7 billion to expand ProKitchens automation in Europe
Atoms, a robotics and industrial automation company founded by Travis Kalanick, has raised $1.7 billion in a funding round. The investment was led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Uber, Bain Capital, and Fifth Wall.
The capital is intended to expand the ProKitchens network, which provides automated commercial kitchen infrastructure across several European countries, including France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, and the Netherlands. The expansion aims to reduce labor friction and improve operational efficiency for food and beverage brands by providing ready-to-fit kitchen spaces with flexible contracts.
In addition to the food sector, the funding positions Atoms to accelerate development in the mining and transport industries. Ben Horowitz, co-founder of a16z, will join the Atoms board as part of the agreement.
