Atresmedia to launch UHD channels in Spain on November 5

Atresmedia will expand its ultra-high-definition (UHD) offerings in Spain starting November 5 with the launch of two new channels: Antena 3 UHD and laSexta UHD.

Antena 3 UHD will be available via Digital Terrestrial Television (TDT), provided viewers have a compatible DVB-T2 receiver and rescan their televisions. In contrast, laSexta UHD will not be broadcast via TDT but will instead be accessible through digital platforms, including the streaming service Atresplayer and various operators such as Movistar Plus, Digi TV, and Orange TV.

This technological evolution utilizes the DVB-T2 standard. Under the current capacity distribution for the state multiplex, RTVE will hold 50%, while Atresmedia and Mediaset will each hold 25%.
