Attica Group and Greek sailors' union end Ariadne ferry strike
The Panhellenic Union of Commercial Marine Sailors (PENEN) ended a 24‑hour strike on the passenger‑vehicle ferry «ΑΡΙΑΔΝΗ» after reaching an agreement with shipowner Attica Group. The walk‑out began at 14:00 in the port of Piraeus, with all union members on board, demanding extra pay for intensified work and express routes.
Attica Group had previously appealed to the Piraeus Court of First Instance, which ruled the strike illegal, but the union proceeded. Following renewed negotiations, the company committed to meet the crew’s economic request. PENEN then called off the strike, allowing the vessel to resume service. Attica Group said it “fully respects the collective agreement for the extraordinary routes”.
