Attica Region deploys 388 new traffic enforcement cameras

The Attica Region is deploying a network of 388 new cameras at key intersections across the Attica Basin to reduce traffic accidents and dangerous driving behavior. These cameras, placed in high-risk areas identified by the Attica Traffic Directorate, are expected to be fully operational next week.

Operating 24/7, the system is designed specifically to record red light violations. To ensure transparency and reliability, the cameras will provide high-resolution evidence to the Hellenic Police, consisting of six photographs and one video per violation. Measures have been implemented to protect personal data by ensuring offenders' faces are not identifiable.

Notifications for violations will be sent electronically via the gov.gr Citizen Mailbox and the Gov.gr Wallet. If fines are not paid or contested within the required timeframe, the debt will be transferred to the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE). This new system complements existing AI-powered pilot programs currently operating on Mesogeion Avenue, Syngrou Avenue, Syntagma, and Vouliagmenis Avenue.
