Attica Roots Festival to Feature Chaíni in Athens' Kotsia Square on July 18

The Attica Roots Festival, the flagship cultural program of the Attica region linking musical heritage with contemporary creation, will present the renowned Cretan ensemble Chaíni on Saturday, 18 July 2026. The free concert will take place at Kotsia Square in the heart of Athens, beginning at 21:00.

The performance reflects the festival’s philosophy of searching musical "roots" through collective memory, combining traditional Cretan songs with poetic, mystical, and Eastern influences. The lineup includes band members Dimitris Apostolakis (lyra, vocals), Dimitris Zacharioudakis (guitar, vocals), Giorgos Konstantinou (bass), Michalis Galanis (drums), Michalis Nikopoulos (laouto, mandolin, bouzouki, vocals), Peter Jacques (trumpet, flugelhorn, clarinet, ney) and Angeliki Syrkou (vocals). The event is organized by the Attica Region with media sponsors Nextstep Media, Iefimerida GR and TV sponsor Mega.
