Attica traffic gridlock hits Kifisos and major avenues

Central roads and boulevards in the Attica region remain on the red alert, with significant delays reported on the Kifisos corridor. The most severe congestion is on Kifisos Avenue, especially between the Aigaleo and Nea Ionia sections, and on the Kifisias Avenue stretch from Psychiko to Chalandri and Marousi. Drivers also face slow traffic on Mesogeion Avenue, the Kathecha‑Katachi segment, and Vouliga Avenue heading toward central Athens. Additional bottlenecks are noted on Alexandras, Vasilissis Konstantinos, Vasilissa Sofias, and Syngrou boulevards, as well as on the Athens‑Piraeus route and the Athens‑Airport corridor, where travel times have increased by 15‑20 minutes. Nighttime traffic management continues at the Metamorfosi interchange (A6), with certain exits closed between 22:00 and 06:00, diverting flow toward Piraeus and requiring detours via the Vio̱milon bridge or the Peristeri road for heavier vehicles.
