Attica Traffic Police crack down on electric scooter violations

The Attica Traffic Police conducted a large-scale enforcement operation targeting drivers of Light Personal Electric Vehicles (LPEVs) across the Attica basin. The operation took place from the early morning of August 26 through the early morning of August 27.

During the crackdown, officers performed 192 checks and issued a total of 115 violations. The most frequent infraction was the failure to wear a protective helmet, which accounted for 78 of the citations. Other violations included 13 cases of missing or unused speed limiters, six instances of running red lights, five for regulatory plate violations, three for carrying excess passengers, and three for uninsured vehicles.

Authorities also focused on alcohol consumption, identifying nine drivers operating under the influence. In one instance, a driver was arrested after testing above 0.60 mg/l, resulting in a misdemeanor charge. Additional infractions included driving on sidewalks and failing to yield to trams.
