Attica traffic violations surge despite strict laws

Traffic authorities in Attica, Greece, report a significant surge in road safety violations despite stricter traffic laws and heavy fines. In July, the Attica Traffic Police recorded 34,637 violations, primarily involving speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and failure to use seatbelts or helmets.

During the same period, 462 traffic accidents were documented in the region, resulting in six fatalities. Observed infractions in areas such as Vouliagmeni, Poseidonos, and Syngrou Avenue include running red lights, illegal U-turns, driving against the flow of traffic, and riding on sidewalks.
