Audi CEO reports high interest in Formula 1 team shares
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner has confirmed there is “very great interest” in acquiring shares in Audi’s Formula 1 team. Speaking on the sidelines of the Spanish Grand Prix, Döllner noted that while interest is high, the company currently feels no necessity to act hastily.
Audi entered the top tier of motorsport by acquiring the Swiss racing team Sauber. The current ownership structure includes Audi as the majority shareholder, with a significant minority stake held by a Qatari sovereign wealth fund. Döllner emphasized that any future sale of shares would be subject to a “very, very structured process” and stated that it would be “unthinkable” for Audi to hold a minority stake in the team.
Regarding competitive performance, Audi currently sits 8th in the constructors' championship. Drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto hold 14th and 15th places in the standings, respectively. The company maintains a long-term goal of competing for the World Championship by 2030.
