Audio-Technica launches ATH-AWX7000 flagship headphones

Audio-Technica has announced the ATH-AWX7000, a new flagship model of closed-back over-ear headphones. Developed and manufactured at the company’s Naruse plant in Japan, the headphones utilize a ‘True Closed-back Acoustic’ design intended to balance powerful low-frequency performance with transparency in the mid and high frequencies.

The hardware features a ‘Hybrid Matrix Diaphragm’ made of bonded thin films and ‘High-Concentricity X Dynamic Transducer’ technology to ensure precise diaphragm movement. The earcups are constructed from Kiso cypress wood, a material sourced from strictly managed state forests that can take up to 300 years to mature. This wood is finished by hand using traditional Echizen lacquer.

Technical specifications include 58-mm drivers, an impedance of 48 ohms, and a sensitivity of 97 dB/mW. The headphones include a magnesium frame, aluminum sliders, and leather earpads. The package comes with two detachable cables: a 2.5m balanced XLR cable and a 3m unbalanced 6.3mm stereo plug, alongside a hard-shell carrying case. The product is priced at £3299.
