Audio-Technica ATH-AWX7000 headphone launch

Audio-Technica has announced the ATH-AWX7000, a new flagship model of closed-back dynamic wooden headphones manufactured in Japan. The headphones utilize ‘True Closed-back Acoustic’ technology and a ‘Hybrid Matrix Diaphragm’ to balance low-frequency performance with mid and high-frequency transparency.

The hardware features ‘High-Concentricity X Dynamic Transducer’ technology for precise diaphragm movement. The earcups are constructed from Kiso cypress wood and hand-finished with traditional Echizen lacquer. Design elements include a magnesium frame, aluminum sliders, and deerskin earpads, with the unit finished in ‘kachi-iro’, a traditional Japanese deep navy hue.

Technical specifications include 58-mm drivers, an impedance of 48 ohms, and a sensitivity of 97 dB/mW. The product includes a balanced XLR cable, an unbalanced 6.3mm stereo plug, and a hard-shell carrying case, with a retail price of £3299.
