Audio-Technica unveils ATH-AWX7000 wooden headphones
Audio-Technica has announced the ATH-AWX7000, a new model of closed-back dynamic wooden headphones. The device features newly developed Hybrid Matrix Diaphragm (HMD) technology, which utilizes a composite material of polymer film and a metal dome to maintain shape under high air pressure and improve bass power.
The headphones incorporate True Closed-back Acoustic (TCbA) technology to manage internal air pressure for low-frequency handling while maintaining mid-range and treble clarity. Manufacturing utilizes the High-Concentricity X Dynamic Transducer (HXDT) process to ensure extreme precision in the placement of magnets and voice coils.
Constructed in Japan, the earcups are made from Kiso cypress and hand-finished with traditional Echizen lacquer. The design includes a lightweight magnesium frame, aluminum sliders, and deerskin earpads and headband. The unit is finished in kachi-iro, a traditional Japanese deep navy hue.
