Augsburg asylum shelter double homicide: victims' family speaks out

A double homicide has occurred in an asylum shelter located in the Haunstetten district of Augsburg, Germany. The victims, identified as a 54-year-old man and a 39-year-old Syrian national, were killed by a 29-year-old Syrian man.

The 54-year-old victim, Al Kaki, had moved from Iraq to Germany in 2015 to work and support his family. His eldest son, speaking from Iraq, described his father as a ‘peaceful, hardworking man’ who was an innocent person uninvolved in any conflict or violence.

The alleged perpetrator has been placed in a closed psychiatric facility following the incident.
