Augusta sewage and purification project enters executive phase

The formal handover for the construction of a new sewage and purification system in Augusta has taken place. The project, funded by the state with over 69 million euros in public resources, aims to address long-standing infrastructure needs in the region.

The contract for the works was awarded to a temporary grouping of companies led by Consorzio Stabile Progettisti Costruttori and Sideridraulic System spa for an amount of approximately 38.5 million euros. The execution period is expected to last 470 consecutive days, a reduction from the original 588-day estimate.

During the handover ceremony, Extraordinary Commissioner Fabio Fatuzzo noted that while the project has moved to the executive phase, construction will begin once all necessary administrative requirements are met. The initiative is intended to improve environmental conditions and ensure a cleaner sea for the local population.
